would this be louder?

I just switched out my dual in/dual out 2.25" 50 series flowmaster SUV muffler and put in a Y pipe going into a single in 2.25" Super 40 and 2.25" out dumped

The Super 40 is A LOT deeper but isnt as loud like everyone turned it out to be. To me it was just as loud as the 50 but MUCH deeper. (Prolly cuz I had duals?)

My question is, off the Y pipe, its dual 2.25", single 2.5". I had to use an adapter to go from 2.5 to 2.25". If I got just a 2.5" muffler, would it be louder? Would I notice performance gain? I wonder if I am choking my truck going from dual 2.25" to a single..

It'll probably be a bit louder if you go 2.5 all the way back. An exhaust flows only as good as its narrowest point.

I think I am just going to swap the 2.25" and put a 2.5" super 40 that way I can get rid of some of the adapter and let it flow a lot more better...im a dealer for flowmaster now so I get their stuff cheap

the only prob is the 2.25" muffler has an adapter welded into the INLET side to go from 2.5 to 2.25 bcause my Y pipe was 2.5.

Ill take some pics if it ever stops raining
