Ok so what i figured out is that the trans must be stuck in the fwd gear! the trans drives and shifts fine but evey gear selection is drive even park!

I had that happen in 1972 in a Chevy Pickup with a column shift selector--The bolt attaching the gear selector to the transmission came out. Could only go forward, since that was the setting when I stopped. It would start in Park, because the interlock was connected to the position of the selector, not the transmission.

on my explorer i had a hard time getting it into reverse. Shop replaced the shifter soloinoid deal on the side of the transmission. The part where the shifter linkage goes into. You can see it pretty easy on the drivers side of the tranny.

I would look into that first.

good luck

The shift cable is fine! Anyother ideas?

No i didnt adj the cable! When Its In R the revrise lights come on but its still in a fwd gear! How would I check the alignment of the range sensor?

The range sensor, and the shift cable should be adjusted. First adjust the shift cable to get into drive, then align the range sensor with the markings, and see if the reverse lights go on when you put it into reverse as a final check.

The reverse lights go on when the shifter is in R.

Cable and range sensor seem fine! I spoke with a trans guy and he says that i have a bad vavle body. Does that sound rite?

What i am going to do is put the pan back on and fill with fluid and leave the cable disconnect and try shifting the trans by hand while it is on the lift! If that dont work my only option is to rebuild the vavle body. is there any place online to get a VB kit from?

Well I called transgo for a kit. They asked what my prob was and they said that the FWD and Revrise clutchs are fused!
