Ive got my 2000 xlt 4x4 sohc, now to start off i drive it 2 days every 2 weeks. Cause somethin else always breaks. But any way, the motor wont crank, no click, nothin. Ive got full charge on new battery, and a new alt as well. I know this should equal starter, but i wanna see if i can gather some opinions wether its the solinoid, relay or starter, im working with NO funds so cant do proccess of elimination. Please tell me somethin before this truck mysteriously goes up in flames. And also any pics would be helpful, im still not up to par on this truck (4x4 unfamiliar) So im 99% sure that i found the starter but i know with 4x4 systems some parts can appear to be twins.

i just tried screwin with it again and when i turn the key and hold it for 2-3 seconds i get a click and another click when i turn off, not a starter kick but almost like a relay click. Any opinions?

i would check the starter first. if you have a extra set of hands, have someone with a hammer crawl under the truck and lightly hit the starter with the hammer while you turn the key. if it starts its probably the starter thats bad.

also check for any blown fuses as well.

thats the starter of an 04 but it looks pretty much the same

Was there a lot of corrosion on the battery posts? It is common for the corrosion on these to travel down the battery cables and rot them out underneath the insulation. Try wiggling the cables and then try and start it. You can also test the cables at either end for resistance. If the resistance is high, or changes when wiggling the cables, they are likely bad.

Carefully run a jumper wire from the positive battery terminal to the starter and see if it spins. If it does, then problem is in the cable or the soleoid on the firewall/fender. You can also try jumpering the soleoind to bypass it.
