1994 XLT Manual 4x4
Hi to everyone -

I just bought this, only 85k on it, seems to be in good shape.

I'm going to the mechanic tomorrow for the short list of issues.

Cruise control doesn't work.

Speedometer "bounces".

I think that is all for the mechanic.

I put a new pair of speakers in the front doors, one was blown.

When I opened the door panel I found that the window guide for the drivers door had come off. It looks like the rivets broke. I can fix that (I think). Also the water shield on that door is gone.

I don't know what I'll change on the new toy, a new stereo I'm sure, maybe replace the back speakers and add a sub woofer. I see that there is a custom MTX speaker and enclosure, anyone else have that?

I may set it up to be towed behind my 1994 F350 crew cab dually w/460. Kind of a lifeboat. I'll probably get the biggest camper on the truck I can and do a little traveling with my nine year old son.

I will also Leave my truck on job sites (Remodeling contractor) and commute to them with the Explorer.

I may end up modifying it for off road, though I have spent most of my money on the truck.

Both of these were built in 1994 in Kentucky, just a coincidence.

Boy, I can sure go on and on.

Wonder if that's why my wife left?

Mechanic visit: Ouch!!

A couple minor things?
Well, yes.
And some less than minor.
And more like several than a couple.
I thought I bought a good one. Maybe. Maybe not.

Leaking clutch slave cylinder (Requires dropping transmission)
Intake manifold gasket leak
Electrical problem (Center brake light, cruise control turn signals)
U-joints (maybe)
Flush Tranny
Flush Radiator
Flush Clutch Hydraulics
Flush Transfer Case
Flush Power steering
Flush Brakes
Serpentine Belt

I should have taken it to the mechanic before I bought it.
Duh?

Looks like I'll be lucky to spend less than $2k tomorrow.

Saving Money: I like that!

I talked to the shop this morning, I am going to try to do as much as possible myself. They are going to pull the transmission and take care of the clutch slave cylinder for sure.
They will also check the tranny to make sure the ruber plugs have been replaced. I suppose the tranny flush and clutch hydraulics flush.

I'll try to do much of the rest myself. I'm a carpenter by training, not much experience with things mechanical. I have been doing more lately though and picked up the Haynes manual, pretty well set with the basic tools.

It also helps that I have two vehicles now. I wish they weren't both in the shop. I have the big truck at the upholsterer and thought the Ex would just take half a day.

So no wheels and my son injured his toe, slow walk to school.

At least I'm in Tucson in the best part of the year!

Nice walk to school.

Sorry to hear about your luck man, But in the end you'll be very happy with the expo :D

But you had mentioned the MtX Replacement Enclosures, countless members on here have them lol, some buy them for the box, and add another sub, or a bigger sub into it also.

Many possibilities :D

You should upload some pics for us!
