- 1991 ford explorer xlt
I just picked up a 1991 explorer in great condition, with 160k miles on it, the exterior and interior are in good condition. The engine and transmission in great condition. But it seems like the transmission is a known issue. Which makes me worry, I didn't notice any transmission problems when I gave it a test drive. But as old as it is, I am sure the transmission has been replaced. Is there any way I can tell, the previous owner (who only had for 6 months since he picked up a ford f150) said he wasn't sure.
I am guessing just hop underneath and check to see if the transmission looks old? I am planning just to tow atv/snomobiles/dirtbikes with it.
