New 96 Limited

hey guys... new to the forum.. just bought my 2nd car... a 96 limited... WOW.. let me tell you that i have some work to do. i got it from a rich kid who TRASHED it... when i say trashed its the stupidest looking truck i've ever seen. about 9/10ths of hte truck is hidden under grey graphics, he hand painted the dash pieces with a paintbrush *(it looks terrible)* and there are stick-on hood scoops, 15 inch wheels with low profile rims, and a 2 or 3 inch cheapo drop kit on it...


looks like i got my work cut out for me...

but the reasons it was a deal...

it has a BRAND NEW v-8.. maybe 1000 miles on it. and a brand new transmission is getting put in RIGHT NOW. i should have it back next friday... and i got it for 5 grand.


anyway... ill post some pics so you guys can see what can happen when a good truck goes bad... and hopefully you guys can help me... i need to find out if i can get that paint off the dash, because the interior is a very nice cream color leather... and i need to replace seats, carpetting, all kinds of things...

Thats strange, i don't think there is a Eddie Bauer "Limited", the limited model is higher then the Eddie Bauer model in 96..... and the limited's in 96 came stock with the big 302 i believe

hmm.. learn something new every day... well the kid sold it to me as an Eddie Bauer Limited... i thought it was funny but he said it had the "eddie bauer package"... EH... oh well.. top of the line is top of the line.. and he also told me it had a v-6... mind you i havent gone over this car really.. i just bought it when he was trying to sell it same-day because he bought a new civic... anyway.. thanks for the info... hehe..


know anywhere i can order replacement dash parts? i also need some of the plastic pieces throughout the truck. any info is apreciated.

You definately have to get some pics of this X. I'd love to see the paint job he did on the interior.

Did you get to tell the kid what a beautiful job he did with his Explorer?

After selling fords for some time I have learned a few things. The easiest way to tell the eddie from the limited is the paint. All eddies had two tone paint, and the limited were all the same color with color keyed bumpers. Also on the seats the limited will have limited stiched in the leather. If it is an eddy it will have eddie baurer stiched in the leather. As far as the engine goes it is either a 4.0 v-6 or the 5.0 v-8. Sorry to hear that the little punk trashed it! Hope that helps!

Yep!! I learned that when my parents bought my EB. Not only the color schemes are different, the EB gets fender flares and 16" chrome rims too. Of course, all that changed in '99 when the Limited also gets the fender flare and 16" 5-spoke rims. Here's a pic of my truck...
