I swaped out my factory 6 disk in dash changer to an Alpine ipod deck. Now I have issues. First, now the factory sub "pops" when I turn on the new radio. I heard that if you put a resistor inline with the amp turn on wire, this will solve this. The second and main problem that I am frustrated with is the factory sub now plays more mids and highs than before. It almost is like a muffled full range speaker. Any ideas?

I figured it out. If you add a 2.3k ohm resistor in line on the amplifier turn on lead, it eliminates the turn on pop. The factory amp normally gets 6-8 volts, so when you add an aftermarket Radio you are giving it 12 volts. By adding the resistor, you can lower the voltage to around the same voltage as it normally is looking for. The other issue that I had was the sub sounded terrible. The radio I bought didn't have any internal cross overs, so I added an external crossover so that the sub now only plays the lower frequencies, and then I can still control the factory sub from the aftermarket radio. I hope that this helps any one with similar issues.

i had the same problem. you are right about the resistor, and about it sounding like garbage, its just how it is. you would be better off unhooking the sub and just going with the speakers and saving up for an aftermarket sub.

splice the ends of a rca cable in to the trucks harness, and plug it into the sub out on the deck, mine sounds very good, but then again i cut the factory connections off and hard wired the deck. if you try to use a speaker out then yeah, it sounds like crap.

I did use the rca's to the deck I hooked it into the sub out on the deck. It sounds great now with the external crossover
