What has the issue been? Differentials are usually robust and don''t go bad very often.

The first one started shuddering badly around turns and making sound any time you turned. We spent 400 for a used one. We installed it and refreshed the fluid on the new one. I'm aware this is a limited slip and that it requires lsd fluid. We used that. Still only a few thousand miles later this one is doing the same thing. We'd like to pull this one apart and remove the clutches from it if possible. I've never worked on a differential before and really dont want to but we have to keep this thing running. Thank you!

we did match the gear ratio and no we didn't take the old one apart. It had to be turned in for core charge.

Welcome.

Are you sure it wasn't a wheel bearing instead of the rear end? Explorers and bad wheel bearings is a very common thing.
