Replaced the lower ball joints on my '04 Sport Trac, somehow got a pin hole in one of the boots. It leaks a little about 45 degrees away from inboard so I guess it wont get on the brakes. I also don't think it will leak enough to worry about if I pump new grease in every 5000 miles or so.

But.....it bugs me knowing its there.. my question.... short of replacing the ball joint or boot, is there a way to fix this pin hole? a rubber patch? some rubber glue?

Are they Moog K8695T replacements? Sure it's not leaking from the "grease relief valve"? If not, clean around the hole and seal
with a dab of RTV silicone. Also don't over fill, pump slowly and use just enough where fresh grease comes out of the relief valve.

Yes, K8695T with rubber boots... the leak is definitively a pin hole, not the relief valve. I'm not even sure how it got there, I was very careful. The other side is fine...
I will try the silicone, thanks for the suggestion...

I used silicone to temp fix my PCV elbow. Worked for a year until I changed it. Just make sure it is clean. Use rubbing alcohol to remove the old grease. Dave p.
