Interesting. I switched to two-tone leather (black and tan) and black carpet about two years ago.
I love the look.

My X had tan cloth and tan carpet.

The carpet is extremely simple to put in. If you buy quality pre-molded stuff, it's just a matter of laying it in. You can use steam to help it lay right and get rid of wrinkles, but I got the same results by letting it sit out in the sun in my driveway for about 20 mninutes. This was in the summertime, though.

Anyway, once you get it in it will flatten out pretty quick anyway.

Just remove all of your seats, center console, kick panels, and door sills. Lay the carpet in, cut holes where needed, and put everything back in. It's really not that difficult.

If you must have it installed professionally, just find an auto upholstery shop. They should be able to knock it out in no time.

I custom ordered my leather skins through an upholstery shop in my area. I am not sure who the manufacturer is. I removed the seats, had the shop swap the skins, and I put them back in myself.

Good luck!

Do the carpet yourself it's really quite simple just time consuming keeping it properly stretched.
I did my Mustang about a year ago. Just remove the console trim panels, and seats.
College text books come in very handy for keeping it smooth and stretched.

Put some pics of your interior.

Put some pics of your interior.

I'll see if I can dig up some old shots from right after the seats and carpet were first put in.

I have done a ton of new stuff to it over the past several months, and it's close to being done. When it is, I will get it cleaned up and post a ton of photos in a new thread to show all the custom work. All I want to say about it for now is that it will be like nothing anyone has seen done in a 3rd gen X.

I'm gonna go dig up some old pics now though...

EDIT: Here are a couple of old pics. It's crazy how different it looked back then. And man was it clean! lol

When I had the seats done, I had the center console lid and the door panel inserts covered in matching black leather. I also had them build up some padding a little in the console lid, making it softer.

All that stuff is black suede now.

With that setup, I took everything out myself, including the seats, lid and door panels, and dropped them off at the upholstery shop, had them covered, and picked them up. Saved some cash that way.

Since then, I have pretty much taught myself how to cover stuff, so I have been covering just about everything I can in black suede. It's really not very hard.

Nice work, i like it a lot, and that the same pine i use on mine :D
