New carpet

Im looking into either of 2 things. I want to change my interior from a red to black. I was wondering if anybody knew of any good websites for buying full carpet sets for the 91' Explorer.
I want to either take out my carpet, take it down to a power wash, use the high power spray, and soap, then spray again, bring it home and use a carpet or fabric dye to change it from red to black.
Or
Would it work if i went to like a carpet outlet store and got a like 5x10 ft. sheet of carpet, and then cut it and formed it myself?

I used to dye old Mustang Carpet all the time. It works pretty well. Especially changing to black. Be sure to use a fixative to retain the color. You might want to buy someone's old carpet from a tan X. It would be easier to dye and you wouldn't have ruined your carpet if it doesn't look good to you. Straight carpet would be impossible to form to the floor. Good luck.
