NEW DIABLO CHIP INSTALLED

What up,
Well i popped in the Diablo Chip yesterday that i ordered from www.smartyparts.com. It came in only 2 days with the premium shipping which was tight. Anyways, I just gotta say it definetly makes a nice difference in my Explorer. Cruising on the freeway is tight, I can definetly move and accelerate faster than i could before. And off the line as well, Im holding higher RPM's for longer amounts of time. My Top Speed Limiter was moved to a higher speed, and my guess is my gas mileage should be better. I will let you know. All and all though, the DiabloChip is the Shiznit...and smartyparts hooked it up for a good price. GOOD INVESTMENT FOR THE MONEY.

What exactly does the chip do and what should I expect from it preformance wise? I've thought about getting one, but I paid $1400 for a 6yr/100,000 mile service contract for my X and I don't want to void it. Is this mod something I could do then remove incase I need to take it into the shop? Thanks

hey troll, what kinda of increase in performance does that give? ALso do you need to use premium gas? Is there any estimate on what kind of HP gains you might get from it...?

i dont kave a chip for my explorer, but i do for my daytona turbo.
with most chips, you do have to run premium gasoline. and as far as performance gains from a chip: you will feel the biggest gain from a turbo or supercharged engine. but with a naturally aspirated automatic you will also feel a gain as it will change shift points so you can get more of the power curve. a manual trans doesn't give much of a performance gain (not enough to justify $pending $$ on a chip and buying premium unleaded).

leenjen, may be I'm missing something but if all a chip does is change the shift points. Then why is the premium gasoline required?

i dont think that's all it does. maybe it changes the air/fuel mixture or something. i'm not sure. but it doesn't do much for a naturally aspirated manual transmission vehicle. on a turbo, it helps the boost somehow. i dont know how it works, but most chips say they require premium gasoline.


the chip can be removed easily, but you have to reset the computer again.

Ok, what do you have to do to reset the computer? Just disconnect the battery for awhile, right?

yeah, disconnect the battery for 20-30 minutes. then let it idle for about 10 minutes before driving.

Warranty

Someone asked earlier but No they dont void your warranty.

I can have them custom made to meet your requirments.
It requires premium gas because it advances the timing to increase power. It adjusts the line pressure in the automatic transmition models for firmer shifts and takes off the speed governer. It does not void your waranty because it is emitions legal and the only thing it may void the waranty on is the computer itself. I will answer any more questions you have.

I know its hard to give an exact # but what is the increase in hp i should be expecting with a 99' 5.0L with kkm intake and soon to have flowmaster exhaust? And would it be a better descision for me to wait until after i get my exhaust to purchase a chip?
