Can any of you guys help...

I've acquired a new engine with the number 95TM6090AD which was sold to me as a '95. I've been looking at various tuning options but all the sites list 91-94 and 96-01 with 95 on its own and even having a few different variations within that year... Can anyone please let me know any differences in the '95 designs and indentify which engine I've got ...please. I also need to know which upper air intake I can use as I've only found a '92 - not much info over here about Explorers as they are v. rare! :uk:

Thank you

Thanks Ken

That's really opened a can of worms as my engine has an 8 bolt flywheel flange so must be later than I thought and was described!

Your also dealing with Ford. Ford was known for using a mix bag of engine parts in the mid to late 90's. They have inconsistancies with various models.

OK I can deal with getting an 8 bolt flywheel but I don't know where to start with the ECU/MAF as they do seem to be year specific or is it not that important?

You're welcome.

The maf and ecu won't realy care, so long as the engine is the same (4.0 to 4.0)
worse case scenario would be that you'd need to swap all the sensors over to the new engine. You MAY run into a few other minor inconsistancies, but if you have all the original engine parts, you should easily take care of them.
I've run into a minor problem with my engine swap, fuel pressure regulators are different, the one for my truck uses a screw on return line, and the doner uses a 'pop' on type that I can't get the fuel line seperated, and of course that's the one thing thats needed right now!

Herein lies my problem.. my current engine is a cologne 2.9l and all I have is this new 4.0 which is minus all sensors and electronics and the air system. Headache time as I try to find all the bits to get it running again!! And as I said the're rare here!
