i dont know if youd be able to find a NEW one anywhere since they no longer make the castings for the 302. Your best bet would be to call an engine exchange service and swap motors for a remanufactured one. Or to have it rebuilt or do it yourself.... I dont know how many miles you have but the 302's last a long time and there are plenty of aftermarket companies out there... you can get almost anything you need for one at a farily decent price.... unless your over 200k miles or havnt taken good care of it i wouldnt worry about it... im at 133k and no knocking pinging or burning oil...im expecting at least 250k out of mine

If for some reason you do need a new one, O'Reilly Auto Parts has 1 year/unlimited mile warranty remanufactured complete 302's for around $800. Not a bad deal..

go look at jasper ive heard good stuff about those guys

Try Central Coast Mustang. They make a 320 Hp 5.0L longbolck w/GT 40P heads for $1895.00.

Be careful what you look for.....

O'Rielly's and other places that offer cheap rebuilt 302's..... they wont work in your X. They are not roller motors and they will not have GT-40/GT-40p heads. No sense in putting a 160hp truck motor in place of the explorer 302 which is one of the best stock 302's ever made.

Honestly, there is no cheap way of getting a new 5 liter. Ford lists their brand new stock explorer 5 liter at around $2700. If you have any desire for a performance engine, now would be the time as you can get one heck of a motor for $2700 from a performance shop. For that matter, you could get Fords own 270hp crate motor that is only $100 more than the stock explorer motor if you wanted a brand new ford engine.

BTW- how many miles do you have on yours? Its pretty rare for someone to wear out a stock roller 5 liter....

Summit racing had new 5.0 blocks you could buy. Then add you own performance goodies to that.
