ok well the flowmaster 40 was to loud, and i spend 250$ on the setup... so now i might just go all out, i got the $$$ to do it, and go with headers, x-pipe- and dual borla xs for a clear deep BUT QUIET sound, and then resonators if its still to raspy at high rpms... next pay check friday its happening, tell me whatcha think...

do you have a V8 or V6 ?

Headers - X Pipe - Dual Exhaust... those will kill any hope for low end TQ for a V6. you will be pulling like a **** in the top end though...

Now if you have a V8 with those mods + a tune... you will have one sick V8 that will put down some mustangs on the street

its v6 but i got a tune already and i kill everybody even my friend awds v8 grand cherokee of the line till about 60.. so im not to much worried about bottom end, its over 80-90 where u can tell i aint got ****.. but mostly going for sound...

Question on X pipe?

If a Mustang benefits from an X pipe across the rpm range, why would it not benefit the Explorer? Looking at my exhaust head pipes, they run from each bank to a flange where it is assumed to tie together...At least in my 99, the pipes are seperate at the flange and each 2" pipe dump into the front of the first of two convertors...

If the pipe diameter is maintained throughout the system, there is no reason why exhaust scavenging would not benefit the removal of spent gases from the cylinder before fresh fuel/air is reintroduced to the cylinder...

What I propose is a set of 2" high flow Thunderbolt spuncast convertors in the head pipes, an x- pipe at the flange, a pair of 2" high flow Thunderbolt spuncast convertors, a Magnaflow dual in/dual out muffler, and finally a pair of tailpipes out the rear of the truck...This would maintain exhaust velocity throughout the exhaust system especially through the x pipe and secondary convertors and muffler...

Since I just replaced my engine I am in process of replacing the convertors in my exhaust system since there is 170K on the exhaust system and at least one of the head pipe cats runs a lot hotter at the outlet than the other one...

The Magnaflow I want to run is the same as the one on my Charger and the sound is pretty awesome; but I am not doing this for the sound...I feel my power output from the new engine is being restricted through the head pipe cats...

my ULTIMATE Exhaust build, is a 2.5 inch pipe running X piped into Dual Borla Stingers and coming out where the trailer hitch is currently located, through dual Magnaflow 3 inch tips. With JBA hi flow cats all down the lines.
