I already have a high dollar system in my other car so I am looking to do something cheap to my 98 explorer.

Are the stock speakers decent enough that I can run an amp to them? If so I was thinking I could just an amp to either just the front two speakers or to all four.

Another amp to power a 12" or two 10" subs.

Or just keep it simple and a single 12" with just the front two amplified.

Is there any trick getting the wiring through to the battery or from the deck to the amps?

Also, if you have suggestions for sites or brands for cheap equipment (sony, kenwood, pioneer) that kinda thing it would be nice.

I wouldnt put an amp to the stock speakers, they really arnt too good. you would be better off getting something like infinity 5756cf's and plugging those in by them themselves, they sound awsome.

for subs it depends on how much room you want to take up, you can fit a 10inch in that back compartment, but if you want to have a box go for 12's.

its easy to run the wiring, you just unscrew the 3 screws in the radio bezel and pull the whole thing out to get to those wires, and the center console parts just pull out as well. to run from the engine to inside theres a grommet right behind the brake pedal, thats the easiest way to go.

i built my system from stock for about $450. 4 infinity door speakers, 1000w crunch amp, and 2 sony 12's with a box from my friend. even though i hear a lot of bad things about sony, they sound very nice in my truck and i havnt had a problem for almost a year with them in. look on ebay, thats the best place to find the parts you want.
hope this helps
