those total redesigns will not be out for at least a year..
was thinking about buying a sport to hold me over for 2 years...
dont wanna lease... hate the turning it in process..

should i get a new explorer sport?? have there been any really bad issues with these???
wonder if i could sell for what i owe in 2 years???

Both the new F150 and Expedition will be available this fall. Might want to wait if that's what you really want.

I really like the cabin of the new F150. When I saw a photo of it it reminded me of the same feeling I got when I first saw a picture of the interior of the 2011 Limited.
I believe production of the F150 will begin in the 4th quarter of 2014 at the Dearborn plant and in January 2015 at the Kansas City plant.

Welcome to the Forum TMack2300.:wavey:
Are you aware of the hit you are going to take on depreciation alone if you only intend to take a vehicle for 2 years? Have you thought about just picking up a quality used vehicle to hold you over? The 2011 Limited is my 5th leased vehicle and I have never had an issue with the return process.
The Sport hasn't had any more issues that the latest Explorer models except for an issue involving a hose becoming disconnected from the turbo. Even that seems to have lessened. The Sport model seems to be in high demand but whether you can recover what you will still owe is something that is difficult to predict. Good luck.

What do you hate about the turning in process? Ford it's simple, hand the keys over and pay for any excess mileage. If there's damage when they inspect it you'll get billed for that, buy the wear care and you don't have to worry about damage. Unless I was going used I would never buy another car, especially as you know your only going to keep it for 2 years.

Bad reviews on the Sport? I have had 3 Explorers since Gen 5 release, 2011 was a Lemon and was replaced with 2013, no issues. Replaced that with 2014 Sport, no issues.

Be cautious of peoples anecdotal dislikes, go drive the vehicle yourself make up your own mind.

Reading someone's opinion that the Explorer sucks because the first two years of My Ford Touch software was dysfunctional isn't quite accurate. MFT was probably the biggest "hit" against this vehicle and the latest version 3.6.2 has been 99% solid since release. The issue for owners is the 3 years it took to stabilize the MFT platform should have been used to advance the product with new features such as AppLink. Now the platform is behind the others.

The vehicle value vs payout at the end is based on lots of variables so that's more difficult to predict.

What about a 24 month Red Carpet Lease?
