Hello all. Just thought I would drop a line and see what's up. I just got back from a deployment to the middle east and purchased an explorer here while I was there. I am now the happy to be home and proud new owner of a '99 explorer 2dr sport! I love it! My last vehicle was a '00 blazer 2dr. I am slowly realizing all of the differences and am interested in hearing what others have to say. I have always like explorers, I had a top of the line '01 sport until a very unfortunat accident. I loved my blazer, but am hoping I will like the explorer even better. I haven't had a chance to go offroading yet, but I will very soon. I had 31-10.5's on the old rust prone blazer and would like to put something like that on the x. Any suggestions for upgrades (ie speakers, parts, etc.) would be apprecitated! Thanks

Dan

Well first off welcome to the site, if you wanna run 31-10.5's with no fender rub. Then do a TT and shackles this will give you from 1.5-2 inches of lift. Since the lift kits are so xpencive for your truck. As for rust the explorer will rust to, it really depends on where you live i guess. If you have ?s just ask but, the search button will be your best friend.

Good Luck

you can run a 31x10.5 remengton mud brute with no lift real good tires they are very impressive in there proformance in the mud and not to exspensive i paid $452 for my set they look really good rapped around a set of dick cepek DC-1's

I used to have a blazer as well and you will be happy you switched. The explorer has better axles, an 8.8 and D35 comepared to the 7.5 (or 7.56 depending) and 7.2 that your blazer had. It is cheaper to lift too, i lifted my explorer 4" for about $190 in parts (Body lift for a ranger and 1" Torsion and shackles) and I run 33" tires. The explorer has a better motor and everything else, trust me. When i owned my blazer, it always had problems. Within about 9 months, I replaced the tranny twice, rebuilt the motor, replaced all hubs and then cvshafts.....the explrer, in my opinion is better built

you will be happy, trust me.

I think I will try the shackels first. Everyone told me I couldn't run the 31's on the blazer, but I did without a single problem. The only difference is that I wish the explorer was a stick. I can tell the step bars are rusting(that's to be expected in Iowa), but other than that, the thing is absolutley imacculate!
