2006 Ford Explorer
I just found this forum while doing a Google about a problem with my 2006 Explorer. I am going to read up on here, then post the problem if I can't figure it out from reading.
I like the Explorer but the repairs are killers. Trans, radiator and now this funny noise.

Welcome.

The radiator was a really common thing on that gen explorer but I haven't heard of the transmission being a huge problem.

Thanks. I like the vehicle but it is one thing after another. And it isn't all beat. I bought it with 48K, has about 85K now, in 2 years.
My friend is a motorhead and he told me to sell as soon as he heard I had bought it. Said his wife's (2002 Explorer, I think) had needed 2 transmissions.
Also I got nicked $500 by the dealer for a thermostat and software update.
And now the batteries in the tire pressure sensors are dying. I was quoted $100-175 a wheel on that one.
Not to mention the strange noise.

Sorry to here your bad troubles. I can from a huge explorer family as well as still currently having 2 of those exact gen explorers with both almost 200,000 or above all with factory transmissions.

I guess you just got unlucky with it all. They can definitely be killers if you don't do a ton of your own work.

When I hear the prices they pay the dealers sometimes to do work on them, my jaw about hits the floor.

But hey man if its giving you a ton of trouble, dont feel to bad about getting rid of it. Fix all the stuff up and go sell it or trade it in. I have had 12 or 13 vehicles now and I turn 25 this year. Sometimes you just have to cut your loses even if it means losing some money on it.
