Ford should link this forum in the dang owner manuals! I am very, very impressed with the quality of information here.
I've been driving first gen Explorers for a few years and love them. They are inexpensive, sturdy, big enough, and parts are everywhere (except at the dealers!).
I bought a red 92 EB about six years ago and liked it enough that I bought a second (green 91 EB) to go with it. I'm an electrician, not a mechanic damnit, but still want to do as much of my own truck work as I can. My wife and I having matching trucks makes the logistics much simpler.
I've done several things, fan blade and fan clutch replacement (this made me cuss a lot), radiator replacement, belts, hoses, alternator, and lots of electrical, but have kept away from 'internally lubricated parts' and tune ups.
I'm hoping that these forums will make me confident enough to tackle some more projects like tune ups and A/C repairs.
I'd also love to find another 1st Gen enthusiast near Portland to collaberate on projects and experiments.
Thanks all, you've got a great site going.
