Boy - I'm glad I found this site! I've had my generally trouble free 2000 Explorer Sport for 7 years, used generally on weekends to take my mother-in-law out for errands and shopping (she doesn't drive, and my wife and I drive Mini Coopers as our daily drivers). Last weekend - no start, but cranks just fine. I found the No Start Troubleshooting guide and will start going down that as soon as I get the fuel pressure test kit (I need an excuse to buy another tool anymore).

I've been a shadetree since I started working on hot rods with my stepdad back before color TV. I enjoy working on cars in my garage, and actually keep pretty busy adding modifications to friends Minis and Porsches. My avocation is teaching people how to drive fast around racetracks, so get lots of opportunities to meet folk and help them with their projects.

My day job is in community/commercial banking, and with the exception of when I got ****y and "retired", have been doing one thing or another in banking for over 40 years. When I retired, I bought a Matco tool truck and sold tools for a couple of years, which put the finishing touches on a worn out knee. Doc said sell the truck before giving me a new knee, so back to banking. I did end up with two large toolboxes filling the garage (thank goodness Minis are short), hence the comment about needing an excuse to buy another tool.

I keep the Explorer and a 1985 Cad Eldo Biarritz (3400 original miles) at my mother-in-laws house. Unfortunately, she has a poorly lit garage, so working on the Eldo and Explorer are a bit harder, but I am building up a set of tools and Griot's Garage supplies over there. I think this new adventure with the Explorer is going to make me put some better lighting in that garage.

I wish I had found this site some time ago. I'm having fun digging around. Good stuff.

Pat
