noooo he is wrong... taking the ECU off wipes all the codes.. drive it for about 20 miles, turn it off, back on and drive for another 20 miles..

this should bring back the codes..

don't let him near yr car again.. he clearly doesn't have a clue

Ford's can read them.. but they're expensive..

There's a thread in the UK section about code readers..

Scantool do a code reader..

But disconnecting the battery will wipe the codes..

Well chaps - the repairman at the local garage replaced the ECU with a used one (£100) and would you believe it now runs like a dream - truly a miracle !! Regards .....
