I purchased a set of white faced overlays for my 96 V8 explorer to find out some of the warning lights didnt match up with my gauges because of the year difference. So I bought a gauge cluster from a 00? explorer so that they would line up. I installed them both(cluster and overlay) and I thought the new cluster would be wired different so that the signals for the warning lights would go the right place. I was wrong! My check engine light has been on for a while and the light(looks like low gas light) in its place on the new cluster, is lit up now. So the check engine signal is going to the same place on the cluster as my original.
Ive seen people change there clusters to get the white face gauges from a 01 Sport or such. If I want to change to an 01 Sport cluster will the signal for the warning lights go to the right places on the new cluster? Or will they still go to the same location as the stock location used to be?
Yes I know, Ive searched, there are like a million threads on this, but thats kinda the problem. So much info everywhere its hard to find what im looking for.
Thanks
