I am planning on doing the 5 inches of lift for $300 with 33's over christmas break. If i do, do i absolutely have to regear? i know it will be slow until i do and it will probably only be till the summer but how much damage will that do my tranny?

Also im selling my 31 inch firestone destination mt's with less than 2,000 miles on them and stock wheels if anyone is interested

What gears do you have now?

3.73 i'd say you might be mechanically ok but it'll be slow
4.10 i'd say you are more than likely ok

Any less and you should go 4.10 or 4.56, but ideally 4.56. I couldn't imagine 3.55s or 3.27s.

But really it is up to you. I am running 4.10s and I don't see an absolute need to regear although it would be nice.

i just put 33s on mine, with the 3:73s its really not that bad but its all preference, i didnt notice a drastic change from 31s to 33s, but its all up to the person, i have no complaints at all...

ok cool thanks i plan on re gearing eventually but for now i dont have the time/money

It's not "all preference," your gas mileage suffers too.

Hypothetically, how much do you want for just the tires? I wouldn't need the rims.

how much do new gears cost? and how hard are they to install or would that be a reason my truck would b dried in a shop? and what gears would i need?
Rear: SOA
Front: TT, 3" body
Tires: 33/10.5/15

Not sure we can negotiate. I would like to get around $700 but maybe we can work something out

Gears are crazy expensive in a shop but if you can do them yourself they are usually under 200 for the gears and install kits. They are difficult to install correctly.

when u say difficult... how difficult r we talkin here? like special tools and my x possibly being dead in the water?

It's definitely possible that you could learn by yourself but I have watched family member do multiple gear setups and I'm still unsure of how to do all of it.

Looks like a great writeup but it says your account is inactive and none of the pics work
