2000 Explorer E.B.
Hi everyone!
I just got a 2000 Explorer E.B. and love it. I had a 2000 XLT before but traded it in for a 03 Silverado 2500 HD. Liked that too but payments sucked so I got rid of it and now have an explorer again. I got it with a bad transmission and am looking to fix it. I know it is a 5r44 so hopefully my luck will turn out on this one.

Also in my garage is 98 ford contour svt. Great car and handles awesome. Cant say anything bad about this car. Cheap fun car. My pride and joy is my 95 mustang gt. This car is not even close to stock. I have Trickflow aluminum heads, cam and intake, full exhaust(magnaflow), Vortech S-trim blower and all the other goody bolt ons. I am sure I will stop in and join this forum. :)

Greetings Cheesehead and welcome to the best Explorer resource on the planet. I've got ties to your great state. My wife is from Brookfield (we got married there actually) and we try and get down there every 2 years. We're slated to visit this summer, usually coinciding with Summerfest (a great reason to party!)

I've got a '99 EB. Almost identical to the '00. I also used to have a Contour SVT (I think it was a '00). I got it brand new with maybe 20 km on the clock. Green and tan. Sadly I traded it in on my last ride ('00 Explorer Sport). I loved the Contour but it was getting beat up on the backroads in the shadow of the Canadian Rockies. I need a vehicle to get me to the trailheads for mountainbiking and the Contour got me there quick, but I had too many bumps and bruises along the way. I needed something a bit more rugged and couldn't afford two cars. I loved that thing! I thren traded in my Sport for a 4 door (the EB) when I became a parent for the first time.. Two doors are a hassle for getting a car seat in and out!

Do you have the 5.0 in your Eddie or the 4.0 SOHC?

Lots in common eh! Green and tan contours are very nice and desirable. I need one. I live 5 minutes from Brookfield so that is cool you know my area. Summerfest is a fun 6 days of drinking and partying. Most people dont know but that is the largest gathering for live music and beer in the country I believe.
I can understand getting rid of the contour for a more rugged truck. I also mountain bike and couldnt see myself using the contour to get to my places. I ride a full suspension Gary Fisher Fat Possum. LOVE IT! My explorer has the 4.0 sohc engine. No need for the 5.0 since I have the moostang.

welcome

No "need" for the 5.0. I just wanted one. I had two Exploders with the SOHC and they're great engines (assuming the timing chain hassle is addressed), but I really like the 5.0.

Summerfest is a riot. I've been to 2 of them now. Did the Tom Petty thing on July 4 several years back on the main stage. I also saw an indie act I really like (Spoon) there 2 years back. I look forward to seeing the lineup for '09.

I'm a Canadian, so I'm partial to "Rocky Mountain" (my wife does have a Trek of course). I've ridden many times at Kettle Moraine. Fun stuff. My wife and I also did the Fat Tire 40 at Chequemegon (sp?) several years ago. That was "interesting". We might bring our bikes down this summer because we are driving down (we normally fly, it's a 2 day drive).

I love Wisconsin. I spent a summer there back in '98 and had a great time. Lots of beer and brats! :D

Rick- Yes I do run the mustang at da grove. I have not ran it since I supercharged it though. Im trying to get it over to Bob Kurgan for a tune one of these days. I still need to buy the right fuel set-up. I am trying to go with 42lb injectors and a 255 fuel pump and skip using a fmu. Then run the anderson pms when I get a general idea of what I am doing.

Celly, Yes summerfest is good but it is changing. Drunk dicks grow beer muscles and try and hit on your wife and start fights. It is fun getting drunk and enjoying the music and scenery though. I definately would have taken the 5.0 but I dont mind the 4.0 either. I had extremely good luck w/ my other 4.0L.

I used to live in Northern Illinois and race at Union Grove every weekend I could. Been living out in AZ for 25 years now. That track is about the only thing I miss.

Rick-the track was just updated last year so it has new walls,p/a system and a few other updates. That is a nice track and I go as much as I can even if I am not racing.

Brooklyn-My friend ran my vin and said I needed the 5r44. I am not doubting you and came here to get help and pushed in the right direction. So I need the 5r55E? What vehicles would have these if I pulled on from a wrecked truck?

ThANKS!
