New guy here, exhaust question?

Hi everyone, Im new to this board and I have a question about exhaust on the explorer. I want to get a flowmaster exhaust, but I know NOTHING about exhaust systems, could someone explain? Is the muffler the only part you would normally change? Thanks in advance..

you can do w/e you like. by default the flowmaster "system" is just a muffler yea, but some people get a cat-back system and replace most of the pipes also. I just got a muffler and new pipes out the back for mine.. cos I was doing a single to dual conversion

I really like flowmaster, I've never worked with borla, but its supposed to be good.. my only basis is the name that flow has for it.. at least around here.. flowmaster is the all american beefy truck exhaust/muscle car exhaust of choice but at the car showsl. something else is used.. I'm not sure what it is yet.. maybe cherry bombs or glass packs or something

i personaly like the flowmaster exhaust. borla is also good but pretty pricey.

i love borla...it sounds better than my flowmaster.... my flowmaster 40 non delta is the loudest flowmaster made and it kicks butt.... like i said borla is the best but i cant justifying spendind at minimum $200 for just a muffler.... the flow is the best bang for the $$$$$ i love my flowmaster and glad it didnt cost as much as borla....

Can someone please give me an example of how loud a Borla exhaust is? I was looking into getting one for my car.

it depends on what you want...loud comes in many sizes shapes..so to speak
