Hey guys, Im new here and have a serious problem, I was in my explorer, driving fine, and every once in a while the RPMs would jump when it hit the gas...didnt think much of it, then my O/D light statrts blinking and my RPMs jump up...but my O/D was still on cause when the button, they went up even higher....then there ws this screeching at certain RPMs...well I got off the freeway, and as I did more accelerating and decelerating, the screeching got worse...then all of a suddent I lost my gears...it was like it was in neutral...and it sounded like nuts and bolts in a popcorn maker...the car ran fine, didnt miss or anything..so I figured it was the tranny, took it to a tranny shop and they said ther crank was broke, the guy took the inspection cover off and said the flywheel just freely spun...my question is that if the motor ran fine, is is still possible to have a broken crank, or did the flywheel break around the mounting bolts...the engine wont trurn over...sounds like the starter is free reving
