New member with a big problem

My beloved '99 Explorer Sport's transmission crapped out on me awhile back and while I'm about 90% confident I can swap it out, I'm just wondering what the major key points of trouble are that I'm about to encounter. What are the most important factors that are going to ensure a smooth operation on my old friend? My slightly modified ride has pissed off a lot of rice burner punks and doubting fools and it needs to be back out on the road getting me into more trouble. Any suggestions, tips, or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, everybody.

Welcome to this forum! I don't think you will have a problem swapping them if you are handy. You need a socket set, jack, prybar, extensions, and box wrenches.
