hello,

I have been looking to get a Sport Trac for awhile, I needed to replace My wrangler with something with a bit more room/cargo space.

I have found a 07, that seems to be in excellent shape, 22k miles on it, and I think I can get the price down to what I want, but I have a few questions, and please forgive me, due to time constraints I didnt have time to use the search function as much as I had hoped, so these have most likely been asked over and over.

In a nutshell this is going to be a dedicated Hunting machine, I personally think itll work well for that, small box for transporting game, and enought space inside for my dogs (its dang cold here) and gear and passangers.

I would like to put on 33" tires, if possible, the section lines and such fill up with alot of snow around here and I want as much clearance as I can get without this thing tipping over.

The one Im looking at is a V6, is this going to cause any major issues, am I going to need to regear, is it going to suck out all the power, I dont drive fast or crazy so top speed isnt an issue.
and who makes lifts for these things that are good and economical.

also would like to get a topper if possible, any suggestions?

If anyone has a pic of something similar to this set up Id love to see it, I hope to make a decision in a day or so, and all the info I can gather in a short period of time would be appreciated

Thanks so much and Im looking spending more time here, looks like a good spot.

Dave

The V6 is a dog. I test drove one off the lot, and it could barely get up and go from a dead stop. It couldn't get out of it's own way.

I dunno, mine runs good but I have an exhaust and K&N on it. The ONLY life for an '07+ is from Road Bully.
For what you need I'd honestly recommend an '02-'05 model. They have more ground clearance stock and you can lift them more.

You will really want a V8 with those 33"s

thanks for the replies.

Ive held off on that one, though its a really nice clean truck, with no major dings. I plan on taking it for a test this weekend.

I cant seem to find a V8 anywhere that is reasonable, or at least in my budget. If I get the V8, that means itll be a '07 and newer and Ill end up running into problems getting the tires I want on, Ill go 31" as a bare min, Id like to see one with the 31" on or 32", and what they had to do to get the clearance for them on a 07+

Ill have to keep at it or find another rig to shop for, I really do think that the sport trac would fit well into what I want.

Thanks again

Dave

welcome dave

Test drive a V8, you will not regret it.

Yea I got the V8 XLT and it rocks. They only sell the V8 in the Limited now so thats probablly why the prices are so high. If you find a V8 thats not under warranty make sure they have already done the TSB on the tranny bump issue. Very annoying.
