I'm new to this group but already have found it very valuable as I used it to research my next vehicle. I have been driving a 2000 Ex but am about to turn that over to my son and step into a 2006 model. Before I pick it up I have the chance to put on an extended warranty and am second guessing myself about its value. I have never purchased one before trusting that car manufacturers make good products these days and that I shouldn't expect serious issues. The new Ex has 100,000 kms. (60,000miles) and the best warranty available would take it to 166,000 kms (100,000 miles). I don't view that as excessive mileage especially for an 8 cylinder engine. I haven't picked up on problems that should make me worry with this model/yr. in the forums other than some radiator issues on the 6 cylinder engine. Anyone have strong feelings about the need for an extended warranty or an issues with the 2006 4.6L XLT?

welcome to forum and i dont think it would really be worth it as 100k miles is usually nothing to these truck as long as you keep up with proper maintance like oil changes and all youll fly past 100k miles

I agree- the bugs are few and far between now, I wouldn't get one if it were me. I'd take the extra cash and bank it- you can make interest on it vs. the dealer...

$1,000 for 36 months or 60,000km (40,000 miles) powertrain and 4X4
