I have a 1999 Explorer eddie baur 8 cylinder. After working my last 24 hour shift. I started my truck. and it fired up then the engine shook i lost power and it died. so i started it again gassed it and it ran after a few tries at this. then as i was driveng the battery gauge went down and only went up as i accelerated. so i gunned it and it seemed ok after a few times of stepping on the gas hard. it hasnt done this since. my first thought was the alternator because i have a brand new battery. but it also hasnt sat for 24 hours straight since. anyone have an idea why it would do this?

welcome to the site, you could always take it to auto zone get them to check the battery and alternator, just to be on the safe side.

Welcome to this forum! It could be the alternator, battery, cables, etc, so start with cleaning the terminals, and check the voltage with a meter while it's running.

sounds like a plan. it hasnt done it for a week now. so i'm confused as can be. i'll try testing te alternator. thanks alot guys.

the alternator tested fine at autozone. and the battery is good. it hasnt done it since. I was told by few guys at work, maybe the fuel filter or water in the gas? but anyway i hasnt done it since. thanks for the help all.
