or if someone can help me by showing me a wireing diagram so i can connect all the fuel injection stuff

Switching to a carb would be like putting bias ply tires on a modern Mustang!
How much experience do you have with automotive repair and electrical systems? This is not a simple job. Do you have the entire electrical harness, ECM and all the accessories that orgionally came with the engine? If not you need them. I also recomend going to the dealer and buying the factory repair manuals for your current vehicle and vehicle the engine came from. With manuals in hand its going to be up to you to determine which wires from the origional vehicle are no longer needed and which wires from the donor engine are required.

i thought all i had to do to make it into carb was to get an intake manifold and a carb and a distributor and all the other lil stuff or not?

Are you putting this in your 2000 explorer? If so, you should retain all of the EFI parts and graft the V8 wiring and EEC to your truck. Fairly easy job. You need Helm manuals for your truck and the engine you got.

The reason for this is everything in your truck is setup for the EFI engine and EEC. For a carb, you will need all new gages, dig out the PATS system, and possibly have issues with the GEM module for left over systems. You will have no way to activate a speeometer, as it is electrically driven from the rear axle. Also, you will need to add a return line for the fuel system for a carb.

Face it, in a 2000MY vehicle, a carb has no place, unless it is an all out drag car that has been completely gutted and run in controlled temps, etc.. Aside from that, EFI is by far superior to carburetion.

I talked to NMTguy in the chat last night. He is planning on putting this motor into his Cheby LUV pickup, and I think the idea was to make the swap as simple as it could be, and cut out as much of the wiring headaches as possible.

If it is going in any vehicle aside from a late model ford, then by all means cut out all of the electrical stuff. As the truck relies on the engine, the engine relies on the truck, so he would have one hell of a time getting the late model EEC-V to work in his LUV.

NMTguy, let me know when you start to dis-assemble. I may be interested in the wiring and possibly other items you pull, like accessories, etc.. You can reach me at tmsoko@comcast.net

if its going in an older truck, all you will need is a regular 302 carbed intake, a distributer and all ignition components, and a carb. you will also need a fuel pump. you picked a good engine to use in a small truck swap, as the explorer 5liter has a really short accessory drive setup.

yeah thanks brooks. yeah im going to put it in my luv and i dont want to deal with all the wiring. as for parts off of it sure make me an offer i think all ill be keeping is the block and the heads

BTW the engine is disasembled already so if u guys need anything let me know

You may want to put a thread in the "For sale, Wanted, or Trade" Section. I'm sure there are members with older Ford parts.
Did the motor come with a trans? Are you looking for an automatic or manual? What would be the best options? Non electronic AOD?

i pulled it out with everything radiator, trans, engine, comp. harnes everything stock headers piping all the way till the cats i would probly prefer an auto trans because my clutch is hydrualic so it be a lil hard to make it manual

You WILL need a computer of sorts to control the 4R70W transmission. It is 100% electrically controlled, so if you junk the EEC-V, you will need to drop some serious money at www.baumannengineering.com for a Baumanator TCS transmission computer.
As for the block, a 5.0 is a 5.0, so as everyone else has said, get yourself a lower manifold, a carb, distributor, coil, yada yada from a Mustang.

If you want to keep a manual trans - that's not much harder - there is NO electrical wiring ;). You can get a hydraulic clutch slave kit for a T5 5spd manual here: http://www.autoworks.cc/65-70 ford_hydraulic_clutch_kits.htm T5s are solid and easy to come by, in both 2wd and 4wd form. The bellhousing will bolt right to the 5.0, you'll just need a flywheel to replace the flexplate.

Is your truck 4x4 or 2wd? does your 4R70W have a 2wd tailshaft or a 6 bolt T-Case adapter?
