http://i1013.photobucket.com/albums/af258/Bluestrean/014.jpg I was lucky enough to have my uncle pass on his old car to me recently, and it has a few quirks i've been working out one at a time. The drivers door handle (outside) is loose, which doesn't bother me, but the power unlock doesn't work. You have to fiddle with the key and handle to get in the door. I did some research and found that I need a new spring in the door latch (pic should be attached). I can't find just the spring anywhere online, and i'd rather not spend the $80-$100 on a new latch when all I need is a spring. Can i even get just the spring? Can i Macgyver in a different spring? I'm willing to pull the latch out and disassemble it if that's needed to put in a spring - i do well with that kind of stuff.

The door will lock with the key or the power lock completely normally, but won't unlock by power and will only unlock by key with some effort put in.

..Welcome here..:D

..If you had your location under your name, you would probably get more replies from others in your area and possibly even a part you are looking for..;)

I ended up buying a new latch (for a bit less than what you said), but this is a common problem that has been discussed here many times. If memory serves, someone tried a solution of unwinding a couple coils of what's left of this spring and creating a new hook. Don't remember if that worked. Search the forum.
