- 1999 Explorer XLT 5.0
I just joined this forum. I have a 1999 2WD Explorer with a 5.0. The truck's a southern vehicle. No rust on it and it's only got 106K miles. I bought it primarily to tow my boat occasionally but it's turned into a daily driver, taking turns in that role with my '22 Mustang. It's been trouble free for the last 3 months that I've been driving it. It does have a couple issues that are nagging. I'll be researching them here and maybe posting about them as I get into fixing them.
So far I've treated it to new tires and shocks all around. Brakes were recent when I got it but I've flushed the lines and fluid. I've also put a new radiator, drive belt and sway bar links and headlights on her. I also changed the rear end fluid and friction modifier and added add-a-leafs to the back end.
