But it still uses the same trigger type thing. The switch will ground the connection to the frame when switched. That's how it's always been done since these units came out.

yeah.. the n2 has gyros that shuts the screen off after 15mph, or so ive heard

The only feature I found worth getting the new unit (if it's even worth it to anyone) is the fact that if you have an XM subscription, it will coincide with the navigation and reroute you around traffic jams/accidents and so forth. Honestly, just not worth it to me. Save the grand and get the N1 if anyone really wants the Pioneer unit.

hahaha yeah thats what people were telling me.. i guess it would be helpful if you commute 100 miles a day like my dad does. other than that.... eh

So whats the update on the Viper alarm? If I don't have the keyless entry I am gonna want to upgrade. How much will a simple keyless entry and basic alarm setup run? I don't need all the little screens telling me which door is open and whatnot. Only got two doors anyway. Thanks

monty: i would check http://www.directed.com for which alarm suits you best

i got mine installed today and ive been playing with it getting to know all the different controls... it has A LOT of different features and im very pleased with it if anyone has an extra $500 laying around i would recommend it.

Did you use the Viper 1000 or 350 HV. Seems like the 1000 gives you more for the money.

The Alpine in Dash DVD is the way I went, I've got Navigation, DVD Changer, and XM. Plus it folds into the dash also. It is the sheot! Eveything in my care is Alpine from event the sub and amp! They make everything. I was born and grewup in Germany so what else would I buy.

monty - i have the viper 791

dominican - i wanted the alpine!! ah man.. we dont carry the alpine in-store yet, but when we do please believe ill break mine and exchange it for the alpine.

hows the picture qualityon the one you got? is it 6.5" or 7"? touch screen?

It's a 7" not a touch screen. I don't like them because the oils in your fingers will eventually cause the screen to fade. The quality is better than the TV I have in my room. ALpine does not mess around when it come to quality.

Thanks for the info on the switch, JBROJ!
Draft: I have been doing some research on quite a few of these and had heard that the N2 has internal gyros that might are designed to help with navigation that might prevent the DVD from playing as well. I also have read and heard from retailers/reviews that the Alpine units are extremely difficult because you have to do a series of steps in order for them to work.
If any one else has any tips/tricks of the trade or any info on DVD/Nav in-dash units and what you prefer, please let me know!

how close does the screen fit when tilted back? seems the vents are very close to where the screen would be. I have the double-din adapter which happens to mount pieces rather far back compared to your adaptor. I'm leaning more towards the eclipse double-din "fixed" touchscreen. the pioneer AVIC-D1 doesn't play video DVD's. Our Pioneer rep at work told us this video blockage is all because of a lawsuit stemming from some stupid kid in Alaska who killed a family of 4 in a car crash caused by watching a movie while driving...

my dvd player will go one, for lack of a better word, notch back from 90 degrees without hitting the vents. a second press of the "- tilt" button hits the vent, then the "+ tilt" brings it just off the vent. if you want me to take pictures of it so you can have a visual of it, i can do that....

Giday fellas, I'm a new joiner from "Downunder".
The DVD sounds sweet, I just had one installed in the ceiling (fold down screen) of my 03 expo. 10andahalf inch screen, keeps the rug rats real quiet.....
Can someone tell me where to look for a bit of performance info to suit my bus??
EG: K & N filter. Cheers TT
