New in need of help!! 4th gen brake problem

Hey fellow Explorers! I have been a forum member and viewer for months but this is my first post. I just repalaced the pads and rotors on the front of my '06 EB and the pedal seems mushy and there is a mysterious clicking that occurs behind the center console underneath the A/c controls. The clicking happens just as you depress the brake pedal and I have no idea why the pedal would be soft as I did not disconnect any brake lines. Has anybody experienced these problems and what is behind the center console that has to do with the brakes?

ABS requires special bleeding procedures. It's possible things got messed up when you forced the piston into the caliper when you put the new pads in.

Hopefully one of the 4th gen owners will be able to offer more assistance.
