Hello folks.
I'll be posting here from time to time and thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm a 40-something tinkerer and my wife drives a 2000EB that I work on from time to time. We've owned it since it was new and besides a few minor quirks it's been a great unit. Long story short I couldn't come up with anything really good to get her for christmas this year and her suggestion was how about I service her baby and get it back to top form. Great idea and now I'm up to my ears in torn apart explorer...
Found this website while trying to find a fix for the imfamous blank display on her dual media deck. Tried the re-solder trick and no joy, ordered a new/updated board off the web to fix the problem.
This weekends antics include plugs/wires, brakes all around, replace a bad/noisey front hub, leaky front axle seal, fuel filter etc.
Added to the list after a few days reading the site are the 00M12 kit, cleaning the MAF/IAC and replacing the PCV to hopefully cure the crappy idle she's complained about for the past year.
Everything went great Saturday with the exception of the axle seal(see post in stock forum). Hopefully I'll have it finished up this afternoon.
Great forum guys.
