Hi folks. I'm new to this site. I JUST bought a used 2006 XLT 4.0 (Redfire w/two tone grey leather). My wife drives an Escape and she suggested that I look into an Explorer. I fell in LOVE with the one on the FORD lot and bought it. It has 21000 Km's (13000 Miles).
On the way home, my wife ran into the coffee shop for two minutes, as I was waiting, the dash lights flickered and then the truck died! After my cursing was over, I called Ford roadside assistance. I was told there was a 30-45 min wait.
10 min. later I turned the ignition and the truck fired back up! I called the dealership and they said "the wires could be still be wet from the detailing". The detailing was done 6-8 hours earlier.
Two points:
1. All accessories worked for the 10 min. that the truck wouldn't start.
2. The other interior lights (radio, climate controls) were OK, only the speedo, tach, gas gauges etc. "flickered" prior to shutting itself down.
I LOVE this truck and I really want to be satisfied while owning it; but so far, my initial 30 minutes of ownership have left me with a real sour taste.
I've owned lots of FORDs before ( as mentioned, currently we have an Escape) and they;ve all been problem free. I don't want to believe that I just bought a DUD!
Does anyone know what the problem might be?
Thanks a ton in advance.
Paul.
