I just took over payments on my moms 01 Explorer cause she no longer needed it... Whenever I get a new vehicle I always find what seems to be the best forum and join, cause it always helps to be able to search for problems and fixes, and ask questions.
Im anticipating some problems with this one already, and heres why: My stupid ass little brother blew the original 4.0L V6 in it a few months ago, according to the mechanic the timing chain broke and the engine was destroyed. I never got a chance to check it out cause in im Cali for training until Nov... I ended up paying $2500 for a used 4.0 motor with 102K on it (installed, with a 6mo warranty- not bad eh). I havent even driven it since it got the new motor, so Im pretty pissed about that whole situation, and I dont know how it runs or anything, but according to mom it seems OK...
Other than that, and the different colored trunk (mom sucks at backing up) cause it was replaced, it should be in good condition. I used to be a GM mechanic so Ill give her a good once over when I get back to Camp Lejeune and see what needs attention. I also plan on painting the trunk to match again, tinting the windows, installing a CD player (or TV if I find a good deal on one), and putting my system in it (just a 12" sub nothing major). I look forward to talking to everyone on the forum and learning whatever I can while Im here
