I just got a 2002 explorer xlt and im planning on doing a lot of stuff to it.
as of now its white, 4x4 and completely stock. hopefully with yall help i can change that some.

future build list:
-16x8 inch rims (should be in the next week or 2)
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-375-6865gb0/overview/ (I know another member on here has them on his but they look so damn good that I dont mind copying him)
-285/75/16r or 265/75/16r tires (most likely good years)
-lift (3 inch body, or combination of spacers and rancho lift, not sure yet)
-pioneer touch screen headunit ( http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1308400BH/Pioneer-AVH-P8400BH.html )
-upgraded speakers (most likely infinity kapa's)
-maybe an 8 inch sub. (I would rather have it under a seat then taking up cargo room in the back)(most likely a pioneer)
-hunter bull bar with KC HiLiTes ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/02-05-Ford-...xplorer|Year:2002&hash=item460ab1d5a1&vxp=mtr )
-a CB
-Power inverter
-maybe strobe lights for kicks and giggles
-Cold air intake (am i gonna have to do custom piping or are there any kits?)
-remote start
-flash tuner (xcal3)
-exhaust (flowmaster 50)

I also plan to do the transfer case mod to keep it in 2x4
i wanna try to keep the build around $5000 over the next year.

Will try to get a pic of it the way it is now up here soon but dont have time right now.
will also add picture when I get the rims on (should be ordering them this sunday.. hopefully)
wish me luck, ive been looking at this forum dayly for the last couple weeks trying to figure out how im gonna get stuff done especialy with the lift yall are very helpfull.

if u have the $$ (pretty expensive), you can get a JL Audio stealth box. Goes right over the left side compartment. I use my compartment, so i'd rather create a box on the right side, but that will have to be custom. Amps fit perfectly under the rear seats

I have the pioneer AVH-P4400bh. pretty awesome.

As for the CAI, you can buy a MAF adapter, and a K&N or Spectre cold air intake (4")...thats what i have.

btw: they do have the whole K&N intake system = >$250. Check ebay for cheaper.

The new filter and adapter replace just the OEM filter box. The adapter bolts onto the stock pipe. Then the new filter gets clamped onto the adapter. Mines was 4" because i have the 4.6L V8, i dont know if its the same size as the 4.0L

Thanks! you have the same dash color as me and that reciever looks awesome. I use the compartment too. I keep my tools, fishing/hunting/bow stuff all back there too most of the time so thats my biggest reason to not throw 12s back there. but thanks for the advice on the intake, Ive discovered how little aftermarket is made for our rigs so i figured id just ask before searching all night.

Have you got the 4.0 or a 4.6?

Too bad. I've got a K&N CAI for a V8 I'm looking to get rid of.

on the right side of the cargo area, there would be a factory sub and amp in the more expensive models. These also come with the OEM panels with the subwoofer mount/hole and grille. if you can, try going to a junkyard and find 02-05 mountaineer or ex with the panel the same color as yours and the whole sub enclosure (click on link).

I did find one at a junkyard, but it was a different color. Being that i know a sub can fit there, i probably can make my own...but i want it to look as factory as possible. But i do regret not buying that oem enclosure when i seen it

I hadnt thought of that, that sounds like a good idea too. the subs will prolly be low on my list right now sence im spending every penny I have on a lift/tires/rims. I may end up going dorment for a little while saving up for the next big thing.

Don't go dormant. Stay, read and contribute. There is a wealth of information here.

lol i guess dormant was a bad choice of words, I'll still be around putting my 2 cents in everyone elses business.
the exhaust will be next in a few weeks and thats not new ground for me, then the sound system (if anything is, it would be my specialty) with little things like cb/inverter/radar/ scattered out between it all.
and about the weath of information, lets say the search and me have become great friends.
