1998 Explorer
Howdy all,
Found the forum while doing a google search for Explorer forums. I am having a bit of a problem with my '98 Explorer and wanted to check out the ideas that I might find here. Mine is a 1998 Explorer XLT with 280,000 miles on it. Only two owners, from one family. My mom drove it for the first 10 or 11 years, then turned the keys over to me when she moved on to a Ford Escape. I am doing my best to see that the reliable almost daily driver makes it to 300K. It shows the years, and needs some minor work, but is still very reliable.

Thanks,
Dave Henderson

I think it may just be two problems creeping up at the same time. I noticed, on Saturday, that my cruise control had stopped working, then I realized that my turn signals were not working. Troubleshooting showed that the emergency flashers had stopped working also. With the help of forum post, I ran the cruise control diagnostic and think that problem is the pressure switch on the master cylinder. I also get intermittent brake warning lights, so I think that is a good diagnosis. The flashers and turn signals may just be a coincidental flasher unit going out.

Welcome.
