'92 Explorer XL
Hey guys, well, I'm |SkidRow| from Northern BC, Canada (ya ya, I know eh :P ) I'm about to buy a '92 Explorer XL for $500 and all I need to put into it, is a battery and some gas, it has 122,000KM (75,807 Miles). Some body work is needed (Rust around the gas cap has been eating away at it) other than that, I was able to take it for a test run around the block and it just felt, right. I was never a Ford person, although I have driven quite a few, but, I just didn't like them

Only 122,000 km on a '92? That's impressive. I have slightly more than that on my '99 and thought that was super low.

Greetings from a fellow Canuck (Calgary). Welcome to the best Explorer resource anywhere. Stick around.

That's a picture of the rust around the gas cap. It's fixable, but looks bad. I'll take pics of how it progresses.

When I saw the add, for it, I almost couldn't believe it, that it had such low km's, but I guess my luck is going to extend a little more, on this one. The owner said they're going to throw in some Blizzak tires, since the battery is pretty much completely dead. Some may not like the way it has been "sun treated," but I don't mind. Now on to the scrap yards to find some panels to put on there.

Welcome aboard. :salute: Congrats on you new purchase!!

After a few days and my first fiberglass, it's almost done. I emptied all of the old fluids and filled her up. The glass has settled and I'm going to let it cure for the day and start sanding tomorrow morning.

My next fix is to take off the auto hubs and clean them up and check out the wear. Then on to a clean and wax, see if I can bring her color back out.:salute:
