new member intro

hello everyone! new member here. I love the information and its presentation on this forum and hope to contribute someday. just looking for some advice.

I'm in the market for an 04/05 v8 4x4 explorer, leather int, ~<100k mi. most of the nicer looking options that popup on 'the sale sites' are a plane ride away.

Thought I would poll the community for advice on a lost distance buy. I've only seen two of these in person so far.

I'm aware of the typical rear logo panel cracks, read tons related to the tranny failures and found tons of repairs how to's on this forum. I've been able to identify a few corroded alloy rims and what i'm pretty sure is a leaking pinion seal from photos. it seems the driver side seats crack on the outer side with normal use.

is there anything else that is identifiable or you can recommend to look out for? any other recommendations in general? thanks!

Welcome to this forum! Always look for a check engine light or a flashing overdrive light. Check the operation of the blend door actuator, and the 4WD (if applicable).

thanks. I forgot about the blend door.

wrt OD lights, do those throw OBD2 codes or are they separate? ie pathway to troubleshooting the issue...

I drove one last night that every time you depressed the brake, it activated the 4 ways and the whole interior lighting would blink with them. needless to say, passed on that guy
