New Member Just Purchased 1998 XLT

1) Problem: "Noise Creeking" from rear end (Possible Shocks). What are best (inexpensive), if it sounds like that.
When: Over bumps

2) Problem: "Hard Thud", from from passenger side. (?), I notice the where on the tire threads (the inside right passenger) alot of wear.
I was told the control arm, from the guy I bought it from.

3) Problem: Noticed empty resevior tank alot, why? In addition, noticed slight leak(fluid/coolant) on front lower bumper on small metal plate under radiator. For me to notice that the hose looks moist around the clamp.

4) Problem: Need rear driver tail light wire harness with socket. No reverse lamp on drivers side.

5) Problem: I need a window master switch driviers side.

If you guys can get me on the right track that would be greatly appreciated.

1. Does the ex continue to bounce after bumps? If not probably not shocks, they act as much as spring dampeners to prevent bobbing on the springs as for reducing deflection of the springs. Perhaps just a lube/replacement of the bushings if needed would solve the mystery squeak.

2. It is possible the control arm needs replacing, but not enough information to has been presented for me to opine. If you have badly worn tires I do suggest you replace them soon, and keep them pressurized at the recommended psi as this is a major safety issue.

3.I believe you answered your own question on this one...a leaking cooling system component whether hose, clamp, gasket, radiator, etc. will certainly cause your coolant fluid level to drop. Inspect the hose and clamp, tighten, or replace as needed. If the loss of fluid continues proceed systematically until you eliminate the problem.

4.Obtain and replace the harness as needed, but check the bulbs and fuses first. Also you may just need to clean the contacts in their respective sockets of corrosion.

5.Google or dealer.

Ebay right now 10 bucks ends tonight for a factory taillight... Then work on the harness... could be sway bar link i had that porblem with a thud... def sounds like an alignment is needed, Also for the driver window I'd ebay that too dealers will rape u
