Hello to all. First off want to say this is an awesome site, everyone on here is extremely knowledgable and I can only hope to learn everything about my new Explorer!
Just bought a 1993 XLT Explorer with unknown miles...The Owner claimed it had about 175,000 yet the odometer read XX,X30 (5 digit odometer). He said something about how it stopped working then started working again...I was kinda iffy on that fact but the truck was VERY clean with lots of interior work done and also had a brand new phillips sound system.
Anyways the engine runs good/ok, starts right up and looks pretty clean under the hood. It had the common oil lifter tick but it only comes and goes (this he did mention to me)
I've had it for a few weeks now and have put about 700 miles on it with no noticeable problems other than the tranny clunking a lil bit, but it shifts smooth when driving.
All in all I feel I got a good deal and know with this site I'll be able to fix anything that goes wrong and keep it as my D/D.
I was wondering though if anyone could possibly run a carfax check for me. $$$'s just a little tight especially after buying the truck and I would love to just be 100 percent about the mileage since the problem he described just sounded too wierd to be true. (My guess is that it had 200,030, and hopefully not 303,030
)
