How I found this place? Looking for some info on replacing the Leafs on the rear of my truck

What I drive? 94 Mazda Navajo 4x4 5spd. 123k miles on it, 235x75 15 BF goodrich All Terrain KO's, odering new parts or fabricating my own for the interior/aduio portion and have decided that it is time to start changing some stuff around on the outside as well.

Location? Reston Va (by dulles airport about 30 miles outside DC)

Who I am? 27 year old guy who works for a company as a contractor to Alexandria City public schools doing Tech support for Minnie Howard (MS) and TC Williams (HS)

What I am looking to do to the truck? Max of about a 4inch lift (no body only suspension) redo the interior completely with all custom.

Questions I have:

Ok so I saw the link on doing the F150 Leafs for the rear but what do you do for the fronts? The coils off of an F150 or what? Right now I am looking into putting in a posi or similar rear and checking the front to make it at least an actual 4 wheel drive.

Basically I am trying to do good work without having to spend the money on someone elses all purpose kit. DIY is alot more fun. I am going to replace the rear springs (sag) and front (even the level out) with stronger springs and also at the same time lift it some if possible. Not looking to make a monster truck or anything just something that wont bog down in a little snow or offroad if i take it camping or similar.

Anyone have any suggestions for other things that I might want to consider doing to make it more useful in anyway that involves taking it offroad?

Welcome to the site! Glad to see another Navajo. They are very rare on here to see. I can not provide much help on leaf springs.

Thanks Explorer157, I have actually had a few people come up to at gas stations and such and comment that they rarely see Navajo's anymore. I am trying to keep it looking mostly stock but with better clearence and also a more aggressive look. The rear springs are sagging so I am looking to at least replace them. I am hoping to find info on if it is at all possible to remove and replace the rear with a 95+ rear to put disc brakes on all 4 wheels.

You can just go to yor local spring shop, and see what they say. I know I added a leaf spring on each side in my rear and it made a big difference. The trouble is, Ford put really crappy suspensions in the Explorers up until 2002. You could also consider doing a lift kit which would raise it up better.

Problem is that the sag is to thje point that they are almost flat. I noticed it last week when I was sitting outside a friendhouse and looked at the springs.
