Hello I am a new member. This is a really great place and looks to have a very friendly membership.
My problem is I have a 2000 ford 2 wheel drive explorer with the 5R55E. The 5R55E has a 3 to 4 shift flare. When I changed the fluid it had a blown gasket between the valve body and the backing plate. We rebuilt the valve body and changed the shift solenoids, new fluid and filter. This did nothing to help the 3 to 4 flare. I took it to a shop and they said they checked everything I did and checked the rubber parts in the side of the transmission housing, and the speed sensors but can not determine what the problem is. Other then the 3 to 4 flare the transmission works great, it doesn’t slip.
Any help would be great.
Thank You

Welcome to the forum. If you search transmission flare, you will find it to be a common problem.

Welcome to this forum! Most people have shift flares with lower gears. Did you try a band adjustment? How many miles do you have? Was the gasket ripped in the area near the EPC solenoid? Did you use a 1/4" drive In/Lb torque wrench to tighten the valve body bolts?

3 to 4 flare

I have not tried a band adjustment. I have 67,000 miles on it. Yes the ripped gasket was in the EPC solenoid area. I did use the 1/4" drive inch pounds torque wrench but not sure if the shop did.
Thank you for the reply.

Thank for the warm welcome. I did see there are a lot of 2 3 shift flare but I have not found much on the 3 4 flare.
