2005 XLT
This is my first time to this message board. I found it as I stumbled around trying to find an answer to a problem I'm having with my 2005 XLT. All four of my driver / passenger windows become frozen / stuck when the vehicle has been parked outside during a winter storm. Stuck as in REALLY stuck. They won't budge for over an hour sometimes. I'm probably going to bust a window from pounding or damage a regulator. An occasional stuck window is part of winter life, but it typically only happens once every couple of years. This is just wild. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice? Thanks.

welcome to the site but sorry i dont have any suggestions about that window, dont usually have to deal with frozen windows in southern california

My wife's Taurus does this sometimes, the ice from freezing rain flows down inside the door and along the weatherstripping and freezez them shut. Being a smoker, this is not fun, slow frustrating winter driving without a smoke. One time I decided to take a putty knife and try to scrape it loose. DO NOT DO THIS. In despiration, I ended up scratching the trim along the edge of the window and I think the pressure might have messed up the window track because it sometimes gets stuck open, sometimes it gets stuck closed without any ice. You might try to pour windshield washer fluid on after scraping it to help melt ice down where you can't scrape it.

Thanks Chris. I'm a smoker too. That's probably why I have so little patience with this. I appreciate your help and actually threw a bottle of windshield washer fluid in my Explorer after reading your post. I'm going to see if some sort of silicone product might prevent this. I've yet to sort that out. Thanks again for a good idea.
Bill
