i would like to lift my 1991 xplorer 1-2 inches all the way around. its stock now, an eb 4x4. i have a few questions about modifying it.

firstly, if the sway bars are disconected and i want to jack it up, will the coils come out of te pocket?

do the shackles change the pinion angle in the rear? if so does it vibratew like mad?

are warn hubs necessary for mild offroading, or will stockers do?

what is involved in changing the hubs?

where can i buy these shackles and spacers?

do the spacers lift the truck enough to screw up my camber?

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the hubs and/or lift to answer most of those questions. I can, however, tell you that the stock hubs should be fine for mild offroading, the Warn hubs aren't necessary

Most off-road shops recommend you get new manual locking hubs when you lift your truck over 4 inches (suspension). Your stocker auto-locking hubs could explode their guts if you stress them out to hard with even "mild" off-roading. To answer some more of your questions. If you get the coil spacer lift you will have to get an allignment. But if you lift your X over 4 inches it will be impossible to align, that is why those kits require a new pitman arm for steering linkage. The shackles do not change any angles in the rear, they just push the axle further away from the frame. You can buy the spacers from any Ford dealership and the shackles from numerous off-road dealers, ask for WAR-153 (I think) shackles. And for the sway bars. The sway bars offer a certain degree of stability for your suspension components. The sway bars connect the frame to the axle to relieve stress from the suspension. If disconnected, the axle will be able to extend and retract as far as the components allow, whereas with the sway bars connected, the bars are the limiting factor in the performance of the suspension. I would only recommend disconnecting your sway bars if you off-road a whole lot and don't tow anything with your X. I hope that helps. Good luck man.
