Trying to help my neighbor. He had the motor rebuilt in his '05 Explorer (4.0). The motor would turn over by hand when they put it in (did so to line up the torque converter bolts) but now that the job is "finished" the starter won't budge it and you can't even move it with a breaker bar on the crankshaft bolt!

Pulled spark plugs and it still won't budge so I don't think it's valvetrain.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Richard

OK. I'm a GM guy and I've seen TC's not seated all the way before but never seen it make the motor unable to rotate (usually can't even get the motor and tranny to mate).

I'll tell them to look into that.

Thanks.

Thanks! LOL! I actually started with Ford years ago. My first vehicle was a 1966 Ford LWB pickup. Switched to GM next and never came back until I picked up the '04 Sport Trac I'm driving now (resurrected from the dead with a 2010 Mustang motor thanks to this site!).
